TRAINING |
| We have training camp for the month of September in Montana. This is an excellent tune-up for the hunting season and great ezposure to wild birds.. Our training objective is to have Started to finished bird dogs for your hunting enjoyment. A confident dog develops closer to his full potential. A dog that knows the rules gains confidence. A good friend of mine says "here" means here and I do not care if you have a t-bone steak in your mouth. A dog gains self-assurance with experience in varied terrain and locations. . A dog is not trained until he or she can perform in several different locations. The dogs we train are exposed to three regular training venues. One is several miles of river bottom on the Arkansas River. The second is 14,000 acres of farm and CRP grasslands on our Colorado Eastern plains, and the third is eight miles of dry river bottom on the Cimarron River in Southeast Colorado. All the properties hold wild birds but the Cimarron property holds a large number of Bobwhite coveys and Scale Quail. Thus, when the dogs are finished, they have been exposed to both varied terrain and a variety of birds. |
